NZ Visa Application Declined? Your Options Explained

ProVisas Team |

Having your New Zealand visa application declined is stressful, but it is not necessarily the end of the road. Depending on your situation, you may have several options.

Temporary Visa Declined

If you are onshore with a current specific temporary visa, you have a right of reconsideration within 14 days (fee NZD $220). You must provide all original information plus any new compelling evidence.

Residence Visa Declined

You have the right to appeal to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal within 42 days of the decision. This is a strict deadline.

Other Options

  • Apply for a different visa type if you hold a valid visa
  • Request a Section 61 visa if you are unlawfully in NZ
  • Address character or medical issues that caused the decline

Important

You only get one reconsideration application. Make it count — professional preparation significantly improves your chances.
