Immigration New Zealand has updated online forms to streamline visa transfers and Parent Resident Visa applications, making the process more efficient for applicants.

Visa Transfers to New Passports

Visa holders can now transfer their visas to new passports through the official Immigration New Zealand website. The “Application for Transfer or Confirmation of a Visa” form requires:

  • Full name and date of birth
  • Current visa information
  • New passport details

Accurate completion is essential to prevent processing delays.

Parent Resident Visa Process

The Parent Resident Visa enables parents of New Zealand citizens or residents to settle in the country. The application involves two stages:

Stage 1: Expression of Interest (EOI)

Submit preliminary information about yourself, your family relationships, and your sponsoring child. If selected, you receive an invitation to formally apply.

Stage 2: Full Application

Once invited, complete form INZ1206 with comprehensive personal, health, character, and financial information.

The sponsoring child in New Zealand must demonstrate they meet minimum income thresholds for any two 12-month periods within the three years before the application date. Check immigration.govt.nz for current income requirements.
