Steps to Apply
- Complete the application form — Choose between adult, child, or Samoan application forms
- Find a witness — Must be an NZ passport holder (16+, known you for 1 year, not a family member) or a Department of Internal Affairs officer
- Submit your application — In person by appointment or by post with tracking
- Pay the processing fee — Adults: $560.00, Children: $280.00 (as of November 2025)
Important Notes
- Ensure your other country also allows dual citizenship before applying
- You need to meet residency requirements before applying for citizenship
- A Permanent Resident Visa is typically a prerequisite
