ProVisas is committed to keeping you informed about the latest changes to New Zealand's immigration policies. Effective today, June 26, 2024, there's an update regarding Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) holders (ANZSCO levels 4 & 5) and their ability to sponsor partner and dependent child visas.
What's Changing?
AEWV holders in ANZSCO skill levels 4 and 5 who don't have a pathway to residency can no longer support visa applications for their partners and dependent children. This includes work, visitor, and student visas.
Important Points to Remember
- Partners and dependent children can still apply for visas independently, such as an AEWV or an international student visa, if they meet the eligibility criteria.
- This change aligns with the broader AEWV reforms implemented earlier this year.
- The update brings the system closer to how it functioned under the previous Essential Skills Work Visa.
Who is NOT Affected?
- Existing visa holders (partners and dependents)
- AEWV holders (ANZSCO levels 4 & 5) with a pathway to residency (Green List, sector agreements, or earning 1.5 times the median wage for Skilled Migrant Category).
- Ongoing applications for partner or dependent child visas will be processed based on the requirements in place on the application date.
