Before you can hire a migrant worker via an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV), you must first be granted accreditation, followed by getting approved for a job check. Additionally, to ensure there are no New Zealand workers available to fill the role, it is mandatory that you advertise the position nationally.

If your job pays double the median wage or is found on the list of occupations considered green, you'll have no need to provide evidence that it was advertised for a check.

As of 20 June 2022, all job check applications will be subject to a standard wage of $27.76.

  • In some cases, it may be beneficial to offer incentives such as relocation assistance or training opportunities for the right candidate.
  • Ensure you have an appropriate selection criteria in place and clearly explain this in the job advertisement.
  • Create an effective response system for interested applicants, such as providing an email address for applications or arranging interviews.
