What is the Green List Residence?

The Green List will make it simpler for businesses to hire and attract migrants for required high-skilled, hard-to-fill professions. For qualified people, the Green List provides a guaranteed route to residency. Only a small number of highly skilled occupations have been identified as being in global demand and in continuing scarcity in New Zealand.

These jobs will have registration, certification, or experience criteria, as well as additional information on these topics by booking a consultation with us. Employers won't be required to submit proof of advertising for these professions when completing an approved employer work visa job check application.

If you're a migrant worker in one of the following occupations, you'll have direct access to permanent residence status after working in New Zealand for a set period of time. Your partner will also be able to work freely. This policy only applies to those 55 years or younger as it is aligned with Skilled Migrant Category requirements.

The Green List is intended to make it easier for employers to find internationally sought-after employees, but it isn't the only method to get a work visa. Other employers will still be able to hire skilled people, and many of them will have a way to residency through the Skilled Migrant Category.

The Fast Tracked ‘Straight to Residence’ Pathway

From July 2022, eligible migrants working in these professions may come to New Zealand on a work visa and apply for residency from September 2022.
