ANZSCO skill level 3 occupations

198 of ANZSCO 1.3's occupations are at skill level 3. In New Zealand, ANZSCO describes skill level 3 as: NZQF Level 4 qualification. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

What skill level 3 means for New Zealand visas

• An Accredited Employer Work Visa for a skill level 1 to 3 role can be granted for up to 5 years.
• From 1 June 2026 an AEWV for a skill level 3 role needs evidence of English, with limited exemptions.
• The lower, skill level 1 to 3 wage threshold applies to supporting a partner's visa.
• Skill level 1 to 3 occupations can use the Skilled Migrant Category's Skilled Work Experience pathway, subject to its work experience and pay requirements and the red and amber lists.
