The Skilled Independent Visa is an Australian permanent work visa. It is known as Subclass 189 and is for people qualified and skilled in occupations where there are skill shortages in Australia. The occupations this applies to can be found in the Skilled Occupation List, which is published by the government.
To successfully obtain a Skilled Independent Visa you must have suitable qualifications and/or skills applicable to one of the occupations on that list. You also have to get at least 60 points on your assessment, and you must be under 50-years-old. You do not need sponsorship.
